Charles Monroe Newton

Charles Monroe Newton, known to family and friends as "Chaz," "Charlie," or "Charlie Mon”, 52, of Owensboro, passed away on July 11, 2026.

He was born in Daviess County on August 14, 1973, to the late Gayle Andrea McHenry Newton and Charles Gerry Newton.

Charlie found joy in working and took pride in every job he held. Before becoming disabled, he worked at Domino’s, Owensboro Mercy Hospital, and Owensboro Community College. He was quiet and soft-spoken, intelligent, and an avid reader who enjoyed a good debate. Charlie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people smile.

He is survived by his aunts, Mary Lou McHenry and Ina Jean Taylor, both of Owensboro, Kentucky; his uncles, Kenneth Douglas McHenry of Owensboro, Kentucky, Everett Leroy Newton of Evansville, Indiana, and James Darnell Eastman of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as many cousins and dear friends; and two lifelong friends who were like brothers to him, Courtney Burroughs and Mike King.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
