Charles "Charlie" J. Mehlbauer, 60, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on Friday June 8th, 2012. He was born in Owensboro on December 4th, 1951 to the late Clement and Adeline Mehlbauer. Charlie graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1969 and went on to receive degrees from both Lockyear Business College and Brescia University. Mr. Mehlbauer worked for UniFirst as an engineer tech and was formerly employed at Field Packing where he was an industrial engineer for 37 years. Charlie loved being with his family and always had them smiling with his unique sense of humor. He liked to watch golf and baseball and competed in a fantasy baseball league. He was also a bargain shopper who was always on the hunt for a good deal. Charlie was a man who put others before himself, his family always described him as a good Samaritan.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Doris Clark Mehlbauer; his son Jason Mehlbauer (Mindy); brothers Larry Mehlbauer (Lavonne) of Louisville, Ken Mehlbauer of Batesville, IN, Tony Mehlbauer (Sandy) and Dan Mehlbauer (Lynn) both of Owensboro; sisters Sharon Fuller (Ryan) of Adairville, Ky, Pat Hamilton (Charles), Liz Frey, Donna Mehlbauer, Rose Stepp (Terry), and Teresa Taucher (Gary) all of Owensboro; Sisters-in-Law Jan Worth of Paris, KY, Nancy Krise and Anna Williams of Owensboro; Uncle Frank Bethel and Aunt Kathleen Van Bibber, both of Evansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday June 12th in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday and from 10:00 am Tuesday until time of service.
