Charles Richard McCulley Jr., 81, of Sussex Place, Owensboro, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at his home. He was born in Iuka, MS. to the late Charles Richard and Annie Maye (Carmichael) McCulley. He was an electrical engineer and retired from Texas Gas Transmission after 36 years. His last post was Director of Codes and Procedures. He was an army veteran who served during WWII and the Korean War Era, and was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of Texas Gas Computer Club and served on the local Eagle Scouts Board of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed fishing, technology and listening to jazz music.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Joann (Rummage) McCulley, his children; Mark R. McCulley of Seattle, WA., Mary Ann McCulley of Sarasota, FL., Steven E. (Beth) McCulley of Louisville, KY. and two grandchildren; Ryan M. and Brendan M. McCulley of Louisville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Sowards officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and after 12:00 p.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Help Office of Owensboro Inc., 1316 West Fourth Street, Owensboro, KY., 42301.
