Charles Henry McCarty

Charles Henry "Buck" McCarty, 85, of Maceo, passed away on July 16, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 24, 1931 in Breckinridge Co., to the late John Henry and Eliza Jane Poole McCarty. Buck was a self-employed logger all his life and loved his work very much. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Debra McCarty and Carolyn Allgood and a granddaughter, Crystal Lucas.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Wilkerson McCarty, children, Larry McCarty and wife Barbara of Maceo, Dessie Shelton and husband Tony of Lewisport, Charles Mitchell McCarty and wife Vonna of Cloverport, Nancy Marlene Smiley and husband John of Owensboro, Kenneth McCarty and wife Sarah of Maceo, Anna Hamilton and husband Mike of Lewisport, and John "J.T." McCarty of Maceo, 28 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and a sister, Annie Dunsil of Lexington.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Iron Ore Hill Cemetery at Yelvington. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
