Charles Jerome Mccarty

January 14, 1935 — January 26, 2007

Charles Jerome McCarty, 72, of Owensboro died peacefully at home Friday, January 26, 2007. Born in Daviess County on January 14, 1935, Mr. McCarty was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Generose Molohon McCarty. A man of few words is a man of many talentsthis old saying best describes Mr. McCarty. He was a self-taught man of many trades with many talents and many who loved him. He served his God and his country; was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church; was a Eucharistic Minister; member of the Knights of Columbus; past member of the American Legion and of the St. Vincent De Paul Society; and retired from Commonwealth Aluminum where he was a welder. He was always free to lend a hand to friends and neighbors in a time of need. He was as accomplished with his hands as he was with his heart. This represented itself in his beautiful wood working creations. He also loved the outdoors, fishing, and working in the garden.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by 10 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ruth Ann Fogle McCarty; children, Carolyn Barfelz of Owensboro, Robert (and Joyce) McCarty of Ft. Wayne, IN, Betty Jean (and Michael) Cady of Raleigh, NC, Joseph (and Brenda) McCarty of Owensboro, and Gary (and Lynn) McCarty of Oak Hill, VA; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis McCarty of Owensboro; and a sister, Mary Catherine Rummage of Owensboro.

Services are 11 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2007 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Sorgho. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Sunday and after 9 A.M. on Monday. Prayers will be Sunday evening at 6 P.M..
