Charles V. "Binky" Mattingly, 80, passed away from this life and entered into his heavenly home, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at his home in Knottsville, KY. He was born September 12, 1934 in Knottsville, to the late Marion and Lillie Mattingly. He graduated from St. Williams High School. He worked at Medley's Distillery and retired after 38 years. Binky was a quiet and simple man. His favorite saying was, "I was born with nothing, and I still have most of it left." He was a part of the mowing crew at St. Williams Cemetery and a night cook for the St. Willams Church picnic for 30 years. Binky coached softball for his daughters for many years.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Keaton Ray Payne; brothers, J.L. and Robert Mattingly; sisters Doris Fulkerson, Sr. Margaret Mary Mattingly, and Clara "Doodle" Aull.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Thelma Pence Mattingly; Children, Jacinta "Cindy" Mattingly (David Goetz) of Owensboro, Janet Lanham (Tater) of Knottsville, Jill Mattingly (Jimmy Mattingly) of Knottsville, Johna Lewis (Terrance) of Gallatin, TN, and Jamie Mattingly (Amy) of Knottsville; eleven grandchildren, Abby Lanham, Violet Igleheart (Daniel), Sam and Lily Crisp, Kayla and Maxwell Lewis, Hunter Boling, and Chloe, Ezra, and Eli Mattingly; Four great-grandchildren, Kirsten Mills, Vincent, Leah, and Hayden Igleheart; Brothers, Bill Mattingly (Wilda) of Owensboro and Gene Mattingly "Sug" (Donna) of Knottsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 8, 2014, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Knottsville. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM with prayers at 5:00 PM and again Monday from 8:30 - 10:00 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Mary Carrico Catholic School.
