Charles Leslie Jennings, 78, of 2003 Alexander Ave., Owensboro, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on December 4, 1924 the son of Elmo and Laura Woodward Jennings. His wife, Ruby Nell Jennings, preceded him in death in 1999.
He was a self-employed painter and had worked at Glenmore Distillery for 13 years. He was a member of American Legion Post # 9 and a member of the Baptist Faith. He was a KY Colonel and a World War II Army Veteran. He was an artist and a collector of stamps and coins.
Survivors include three sons, Charles David Jennings of Martinez, GA, Paul Jennings of Owensboro, KY and Michael Jennings of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Pamelia Sumner of Owensboro, KY and Amelia Morse of Plattsburg, NY; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Zana Reynolds of Indianapolis, IN and one aunt.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2003 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Bob Peterson. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
