Charles Kevin Howard

Charles Kevin Howard, 97, passed away Sunday December 16, 2007 at the Carmel Home where he had resided in Assisted Living since 2002. He was a life-long resident of Daviess County and was descended from early Maryland colonists and pioneers who entered Kentucky before 1800. He was a member of St. Joseph and Paul Parish from 1945-1989 and then was a member of Immaculate Parish until residing at The Carmel Home. In his early years, he was a farmer and later retired from American Tobacco Company. He was born February 25, 1910 at Whitesville to Anna Stella (Mattingly) and Joseph Patrick Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Myrtle (Coomes) Howard in 1985; his mother Anna Stella Howard; step-mother Julia Ann (Clark) Howard; his father Joseph P. Howard; and four brothers: Clarence, Harold, Vincent, and Francis Howard; grandson Michael R. Hermann, son-in-law Robert R. Hermann; and daughter-in-law Jean (Jones) Howard.

He is survived by a sister Kathryn Howard Peckenpaugh of Louisville, Ky; two sons,
Charles G. Howard of Morgantown KY and Joseph C. Howard and wife Jacque of Shreveport LA.; daughters, Dr Mary K.Hermann Kittinger and husband Donald of Evansville IN; Wila M. Dobric and husband Roy C. Dobric of Tucson AZ; Doris Jean Schwartz and husband Arthur "Sonny" Schwartz of Owensboro KY; and Joyce Ann Lane and husband Danny Lane of Lexington KY.

He is survived by grandchildren: Charles Anthony Howard of Georgetown TX; Chris Howard of Austin TX; Barbara Hermann-Hess and Daniel J. Hermann of Flat Rock NC; Leah M. Hermann of Palm Beach Gardens FL; Jon Olszewski of Anchorage AK; Charles Howard Olszewski and Michael Olszewski of CA; Father Joseph C. Howard of Houston TX; Kim Howard Wicker and Cynthia Howard Rachal of Shreveport LA; Karen Richards and husband Danny, and David Schwartz of Owensboro, KY; Steven Schwartz of NM; Keith Schwartz of Spokane WA; and Andrea Lane Dean of Nicholsville KY, and Emily Anne Lane of Lexington KY.

Surviving great-grandchildren include: Jennifer, Beth, Andrew, and Abigail Howard, all of Texas,
Amy-Marie and Kevin Paul Howard of Austin TX; Haley Hermann of Palm Beach Gardens FL, and Chloe Hess of Flat Rock NC; Justin, Emily, Claire, and Mason Wicker; and Sydney Fletcher, all of Shreveport LA; Brittan Wilk of AZ; Ross Clark and Zachary Clark, and Stephanie Christian of Owensboro KY, Candace Schwartz Winters of Spokane WA; and Dale and Daniel Schwartz of Owensboro KY. Great-great grandchildren are Brenna and Michael Gabriel Howard and Daniel A. Howard, all of Texas, Blake and Brooklynn Wilk of Az., Makenzie Wicker of Belleville IL; and Makayla Clark of Owensboro KY.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 21, at the Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at the Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
