Charles Carroll Higdon

Charles Carroll Higdon, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Heartford House surrounded by all his family. He was born on March 29, 1942 in Knottsville to the late Augustine "Gus" and Janie Aud Higdon. He was retired as a bricklayer for Green River Steel after 35 years and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for 45 years. Charles was noted for quality workmanship in all aspects of his life. He generously reached out to those in need. His sense of humor was enjoyed by all. He enjoyed coaching Catholic Youth baseball, cooking, bird hunting, fishing, and golfing. Charles treasured all his family, especially his grandchildren, and his friends. He was preceded in death also by three brothers, Billy, Gene, and Joseph Robert "J.R." Higdon, and a sister, Elizabeth Jane "Betty Jane" Higdon.

Charles was a devoted husband and father and leaves behind memories for his loving wife of 50 years, F. Rebecca "Becky" Higdon, three sons, Randy (Lori) Higdon, Jeff (Stephanie) Higdon, and Scott (Jennifer) Higdon, all of Owensboro, seven grandchildren, Clayton, Haley, Macey, Reece, Ethan, Eva Grace, and Veronica Higdon, two brothers, Tom (Karla) Higdon of Morganfield and Jackie (Stella) Higdon of Knottsville, four sisters, Patsy Roby and Clara "Sissy" (Bill) Lyninger, all of Owensboro, Margaret Jane Skelton of Philpot, and Mary Helen (Tony) Rhodes of Knottsville, a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Higdon of Knottsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and from 8:30-9:30 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
