Charles Robert "Bob" Hayden, 73, of Owensboro, was surrounded by his loving family as he went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2013, at his home. He was the son of the late Charles and Zilpha Hayden.
Bob's life will be remembered by countless people for his caring message of hope. Although he tried to stay anonymous in the program Alcoholics Anonymous, his willingness to help anyone came first. He attributed his 19 years without alcohol to the grace of God. He never took credit for his own sobriety and will be missed by those he touched in the association. He was quick to speak of his short comings but even quicker to speak of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Robert Jerome Hayden; a daughter Helen Geneive Newton; and Charlotte Drury Hayden, the mother of his six children.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Marie Hayden of Owensboro; sons Charles Leslie Hayden (Neva) of Philpot, Jeffery Lynn Hayden Sr., and Joseph Mark Hayden all of Owensboro. A loving companion Pamela (PJ) Faulkner. His Grandchildren , Kyle Hayden, Coty Mae Hayden, John Brandon Ralph, Shannon Nichole Johnson, Jeffrey Lynn Hayden Jr., Derek Burnette, Rachael Wheatley, Ronnie James Hayden, Michael Anthony Hayden, and Jamie Leigh Hayden; great grandchildren; Piper Riot Preston, Cole Hallam, Clayton Hallam, Alexis Johnson, Tiara Wheatley, Keelee Wheatley, Noah Wheatley, and Hunter Wheatley; a brother James Hayden of TN and a brother in law, Ed Collings Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday August 29th at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Fr. John Meredith will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter Church Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 PM (with prayers at 6 PM) and after 10:00 am on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
