Charles Edward Griffith, Sr., 81, of Owensboro, passed away January 20, 2017 at home. He was born in Owensboro, May 24, 1936 to the late Thurman and Annie Griffith. Charles was a carpenter by trade and worked very hard. He spent 25 years with Purcell Builder before his retirement. Charles also enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Griffith; brothers, Wyndell Griffith, Darryl Griffith; sisters, Dorothy Dickens, Delma McIntyre, Margaret Ann Gohl, Sharon Mayfield and Myrita Miller.
Charles is survived by his children, Melissa Ashby (Christopher) of Owensboro, Charles Edward Griffith Jr. (Brenda) of Kansas, Brian Keith Griffith, Michael Griffith, Lisa Taylor (Keith), Stephanie Aull (Derrick); brother, Larry H. Griffith (Eunice) and sister, Betty Jean Mills (Gene); 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be Noon Friday, January 27, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions made to the Moebius Syndrome Foundation in honor of his grandson, Preston.
