Charles W. Greenwell, 72, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord March 8, 2014. He was born in Owensboro on August 8, 1941 to the late Charles and Mary Lucile Greenwell. Mr. Greenwell was of the Christian faith and was a very active member of Owensboro Christian Church. Charles was a retired Boilermaker with Local 40 and after his retirement he worked on O'Bryan Farms in Curdsville. Charlie was an accomplished stock car driver and he raced at Owensboro Motor Speedway and all over the South in the South East Racing Series. He also enjoyed golfing and keeping his yard in pristine condition.
He is preceded in death by a half-sister Barbara Bailey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Barbara Greenwell; sons, Charles N. Greenwell (Tammy) of Tumwater, WA and Brad Greenwell; step-son, Lynn Holland (Sara) of Owensboro; sister, Janice Haas (Jimmy) of Spotsville KY, and grandchildren Logan Greenwell, Carson Greenwell, Brooks Greenwell, Neil Holland, and Katy Holland.
The funeral service will be at 12 PM on Wednesday, March 12 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Scott Kenworthy will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Tuesday and after 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Owensboro Christian Church.
