Charles L. "Lindy" Fort, 83, of Owensboro, KY died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Wellington Parc. He was born in Mosleyville, KY to the late James Ed and Alma Prior Fort. Mr. Fort retired from Bell South after 42 years, attended St. John Methodist Church, and loved hunting, sporting clays, crossword puzzles, UK basketball, and good conversation. He was a member of the Izaak Walton Conservation Club, NRA, Daviess County Fish and Game, and Ducks Unlimited. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Ruby Roberts Fort; and his siblings, Eileen Fort Warren, Clarence Fort, Hugh Fort, and O.T. Fort.
Survivors include his children, Dr. C. Mark Fort and his wife Kathy of Owensboro, Gina Fort Jacobs and her husband Clay of Lexington and Craig Fort of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kelsey Michelle Lee and her husband Sam, Karlie Nicole Fort, Benjamin Jacobs and Aubrey Jacobs; sister, Mary Fort Backus of Owensboro; brothers, Wilburn Gerald "Jack" Fort and his wife Lou and Earl Fort and his wife Bessie all of Owensboro; sisters-in-law, Ruth Fort of Augusta, GA and Louise Wilson of Bowling Green, KY.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimers Association.
