Charles Edward "Chuck" Favors, 76, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born November 25, 1932 in Anderson, AL, he was the son of the late Doyce and Gladie Adams Favors; retired from National Southwire (NSA) in 1990; and was an Army veteran of the Korean War receiving the Purple Heart. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Favors was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting with Mike Case, loved bluegrass, playing the guitar, yard work, cooking for his friends, and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan. He was preceded in death by a brother Frank Favors and a sister, Claire Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna Barnett Favors; a step-son, Jim Coomes of Reno, NV; brothers, Raymond Favors of Ethridge, TN and Lou Favors of Lawrenceburg, TN; sisters, Margie Allen of Winter Haven, FL, Shelby Daniels of Summertown, TN, and Debbie Nelson of New Hope, AL; his mother-in-law, Martine "Tootie" Barnett of Owensboro; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Rex) Huff and Pat (Sonny) Hayden of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews; and a special group of golfing buddies and friends with whom he enjoyed eating and visiting. He was lovingly called "Chuckles" by his friends for his great sense of humor.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home followed by entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Friday and after 1:30 p.m.on Saturday at the funeral home where prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St Jude's Childrens Hospital or The Salvation Army.
