Charles “Doug” Mattingly, 73, of Owensboro, KY, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born December 17, 1952, in Daviess County to the late William and Thelma Simmons Mattingly.
Doug married Patty Moore on May 10, 1974, and she survives. He worked for the city of Owensboro as an equipment operator until his first retirement. After which he began working for the Daviess County Courthouse as Court Security. One of his proudest moments was captured in a photo when he met President Bill Clinton. Doug delivered the newspaper on the county route for over 30 years.
Doug enjoyed fishing, deer and turkey hunting with his son and grandchildren. He was an avid follower of UK basketball and NASCAR. His constant companions were his two dogs, Bella and Knuck.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Mattingly.
Along with Patty, survivors include a son, Robert Mattingly (Mandy Isom); daughter, Angela Inglish (Ryan); grandchildren, Caleb Mattingly, Parker Mattingly, Jameson Johnson, and Joseph Inglish; sisters, Donna Roberts (Filmore), and Sharon Roberts; and brother, Mike Mattingly.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, August 20, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with the visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A graveside committal will be at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following.
