Charles Davis

Charles "Chuck" Davis, 80, of Owensboro passed away October 31, 2015 while in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born August 21, 1935 in Allegre, Kentucky to the late Herschel Davis and Thelma Winders Jockim. Chuck was very good with his hands being a carpenter by trade and later became a self-taught locksmith. He shared this skill with his grandson and apprentice, Matt Boyd (Emileigh) of Owensboro, who will carry on the business. He was very fond of ballroom dancing and went almost every night when he could. Chuck was also a U.S. Marine Corp veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; brother, W. C. Davis; and sister Martha Daub. Chuck is survived by his sweetie and soulmate, Frances Duncan and her children: Gary Gish (Lori), Patty Sterling, Tina Allison (G.B.), and Mike Gish (Tammy); daughter, Betty Boyd of Philpot; son, Chuck Davis Jr. (Gloria) of Ivesdale, Illinois; three half-brothers: Phillip, Bobby, Arvil; five half-sisters: Sharon, Roberta, Alberta, Barbara, Karen; step-children: Jewell Mathis (Carla), Sarah Cloud (Mike), Billy Joe Worthington (Lucy), Ruth Ann Worthington, Alma Sue Worthington; twenty-six grandchildren, including Amber Ollis (Dakota) who was married on the day of his passing; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Brother Ferrell Isenberg will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service. A private burial will follow.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Heartford House or a homeless veteran's charity of choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
