Charles "Charlie" Albert Crowl, 98, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Wellington Parc. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Frederick and Verna Lamar Griffith Crowl.
Charles earned a degree in gerontology from Dundalk Community College in Dundalk, Maryland. He retired from the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge after 21 years of dedicated service, including World War II and the Korean War. He was a supply sergeant and military police officer. Charlie also retired from Civil Service after more than 20 years of service in security, supply and logistics. He was an active Mason and Hadi Shriner, enjoying many years of working with the Shrine Circus. Mr. Crowl enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Ruth Louise McNeil Crowl; step-sister, Doris Smith; infant grandson, Glenn F. Crowl, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Crowl.
Mr. Crowl is survived by daughters, Verna "Trudy" Bozarth (Eddie) and Emma Louise Walker, both of Calhoun, KY; sons, Charles Donald Crowl (Patti) of Aberdeen, MD and Glenn Frederick Crowl of Sacramento, CA; 12 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kristy, Cathleen, Matthew, Jason, Allison, Katie, Emily, David, Jennifer, Jeremy and Justin; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
