Charles L. Chuck Baggarly, 59, of Maceo, went to his heavenly home after a valiant four- year struggle with cancer on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his residence. He was born January 16, 1948 to the late Floyd Ree and Mary Elizabeth Benton Baggarly in Ohio County. He was a member of Masonville United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Dundee Masonic Lodge. A Marine Veteran of VietNam, stationed in Okinawa, Japan where he was a metalsmith/maintenance man on the C-130 Hercules. He worked for 13 years for Peabody Coal Company at Alston Surface Mine and for General Electric for about 8 years. Music had been a big part of his life. He played in many different bands locally and while in the service. He was an original member of the rock and roll band called the Chevelles and also was a bass guitar player with the original members at Goldies Opryhouse. He loved all types of motorsports, UK basketball, and loved riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Ann Mangum in February, 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Whitworth Baggarly, his children, Becky Callaway and her husband, Eric of Powhatan, VA, Angela Oliva and her husband, Dan of Antioch, CA, Debra Baggarly Reynolds of Powhatan, Va and Jerry Cecil Baggarly; seven grandchildren, Stevie Rae Mangum, Meghan Gilstrap, Xan and Victoria Callaway, Clara, Elizabeth, and Mollie Oliva; four sisters, Kay Black of Echols, Wilma Faye Baker Smith of Owensboro, Frannie Ward and her husband, Roger of Hartford, Linda Goff and her husband, Eddie of McHenry; one brother, Glenn Benton of Louisville.
Services will be 11:30 AM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
