Charles LaMott Adams

Charles LaMott Adams, 77, of Owensboro, died on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late John Berry and Anna Laura Adams.

Charles was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended St. Catherine College and went on to graduate from Brescia with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry.

Charles retired from OMU, where he had been a meter reader, in 1999. He had previously worked at both Fleischman and Medley's Distillery. In the early years he served as a Medical Technologist at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital (OHRH) and Clark Memorial Hospital in the Louisville area.

He was a longtime member of Immaculate Catholic Church and a Kentucky Colonel. Charles was a big sports fan, especially of U.K. Basketball. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and "collecting junk".

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth M. Adams; a daughter, Paula M. Adams Bertke (Bruce) of Madison, AL; sons, Greg L. Adams (Michelle) of Owensboro and Dan E. Adams (Kristin) of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Ashley Bertke Knepper (Aaron) of Birmingham, AL, Bradley J. Bertke of Birmingham, AL, Nathan K. Adams of Brentwood, TN, Alexander G. Adams of Owensboro, Callie D. Adams of Brentwood, TN and Isabella M. Adams of Owensboro.

The funeral mass will be held at 12 PM on Monday, February 24 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-6(with prayers at 6) at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may also visit on Monday after 11 AM at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
