Cecilia Johnson Hawkins

March 16, 1927 — November 17, 2012

Cecilia Johnson Hawkins, 85, of Owensboro, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Kindred Nursing. She was born in Daviess County to the late, Titus and Petronilla (Speaks) Johnson. Cecilia retired from General Electric and later work for Moonlite as a cashier. She loved taking care of her family and thoroughly enjoyed taking her sons on summer vacations, especially Florida when they were growing up. She enjoyed watching Kentucky and Cincinnati ball games. Cecilia was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Her husband, Clifford Hawkins preceded her in death in 1969 as well as her brothers, Wilburn F.T. and Herbert Johnson, and sisters, Mae Hester, Edwina Payne, Lucille Schweikarth and Margie Clark Lillie Horton.
Surviving are her sons, Scott (Irina) Hawkins of Covington, Ky, and Jim Hawkins of Owensboro, grandchildren, Jason (Mandy) and Brandon Hawkins, and great-grandchildren, Anne Marie Howard, and Lexie and Aiden Poole, a brother, Harold Johnson and a sister, Mildred Smith , brother-in-law Jack Clark and Sisters-in-law, Mac Johnson,and Barbara Johnson all of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at St. Pius X with Rev Julian Ibermere officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at ww.glennfuneralhome.com.
