Cecil J. Tucker

Cecil J. Tucker, 89, of 1931 Stratford Drive, Owensboro, died Friday, October 28, 2005, at his home. He was born July 3, 1916 to the late Rowan and Hallie Dawson Tucker in Ohio County. He was a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO Local 181 for 50 years. He was a member of the Kentucky National Guard, a member of Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed working with wood, especially building different types of buildings, riding motorcycles and loved all types of nature.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, including his twin, Leah, Martine and Frances, and his great-granddaughter, Olivia Stevens, who died December 19, 2002.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Blanche Mitchell Tucker; sons, Jim Tucker and his wife, Betty of Crawfordsville, IN, Ray Tucker of Fairfield, CA, Jerry Tucker and his wife, Karen, of Evansville, IN; a daughter, Bonnie Gwaltney of Evansville, IN; stepson, David Simpson and his wife Joyce, of Owensboro, stepdaughter, Judy Heady and her husband, David of Haiti; thirteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews including Bill Stewart and Louis Rouse of Owensboro.

Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday and after 12:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
