Cecil Heavirn Jackson, 79, of Owensboro, died Thursday, January 1, 2004 at his home. Mr. Jackson was born in Hancock County, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth Montgomery Jackson. He was the owner/operator of the Jackson Pronto Cleaners and a member of the Masonville Baptist Church. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the aircaft carrier Yorktown. Mr. Jackson enjoyed bowling and UK basketball and loved farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise V. Jackson, in 1997.
Mr. Jackson is survived by a son, Gary (and Pam) Jackson of Calhoun; four daughters, Alice Dycus and Brenda (and Eddie) Sparks of Utica, Karen Whitney of Beaver Dam, KY, and Connie Husk of Henderson; seven grandchildren; Kristina Stevens, Kery Beth Jackson, Rodney Dycus, Jennifer Aud, Tammy Brown, Stephanie Whitney and Kim Adams; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Belle Lamar of St. Louis.
Funeral services are 1 P.M. Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Masonville Baptist Church with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by VFW Post 696 of Owensboro. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 1-6 P.M. on Sunday and from 9 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Monday.
