Cecil Butler

October 18, 1918 — December 3, 2009

Cecil Butler, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday December 3, 2009 at the home of his daughter Pat. He was born in Ohio Co., Ky. on October 18, 1918 to the late Martin D. and Dona Romans Butler. He had worked at the Gordon Brackett Furniture Co. until they closed and then worked for the Daviess Co. Vocational School until he retired. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps. veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific where he was a corporal with the 56th. Supply Squadron. He was a member of the former Crabtree Ave. Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with the boys and spending time with his family. He especially loved going to his nephew's farm in Warren Co., Ky. He was also preceded in death by his wife Leona Thomas Butler on March 2, 2002, a son, David Cecil Butler in January of 1956, three brothers, Reathel, Owen, and Ray Butler, and a sister, Flora Daugherty.

Surviving are three daughters, Becky Moseley and husband Dillus of Livia, Pat Cook and husband David of Owensboro, and Sue Welborn and husband Virgil of Utica, a son, John Martin Butler and wife Joyce of Benton, 10 grandchildren, Mark Butler and wife Mary, Jennifer Butler, Amber Fitzgeral, John Paul Fitzgeral, David Moseley and wife Janie, Ben Cook, Kelly Rhodes and husband Nathan, Sara Welborn, Wil Welborn, Jacque Welborn, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, December 5, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday.
