Catherine Irene Simmons

Catherine Simmons, 85, of 2105 Griffith Avenue, Owensboro, died Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born to the late Mike and Antoinette (Weber) Ebelhar. She was a graduate of St. Francis High School and a former member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, and currently a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huston Simmons in 2000, great- granddaughter Bailey Thompson, granddaughter's husband Keith Peercy, brothers Edward and Bernard Ebelhar and a sister, Genefave Ebelhar.

Survivors include 12 children; Ann (Gene) Gordon of Maceo, Faye Gardner of Louisville, Patricia (Danny) Watkins of Owensboro, Cathy (Tony) Maddox of Madisonville, Delores (Greg) Smith of Owensboro, Joe Simmons, Tom (Nan) Simmons, Dan (Molly) Simmons, Jerry (Nancy) Simmons of Owensboro, David (Connie) Simmons of Uniontown, Bob Simmons and Kenny Simmons of Owensboro; a brother; Raphael (Antoinette)Elbehar of Rome, and a sister; Mary Sims both of Owensboro, 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Jones and Fr. Pat Bittel officiating, and burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to7 p.m. with prayers at 5:30 p.m. and also after 9:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc.
