Catherine M. Bowlds

Catherine Bowlds, 88, of Gatewood, died Monday, February 1, 2010, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born January 1, 1922 to the late Ernest Lott and Ethel Boarman Lott in Daviess County. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, and was co-owner and co-operator of Gatewood Grocery with her husband for many years. She was a very devout Catholic and enjoyed being a good mother, and being with her family. She also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bingo and singing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ora D. Bowlds on April 8, 1987, her daughter, Loretta G. Carr, and her brothers, Mendell and Ray Lott, and a sister, Mary Head.

Survivors include her children; Daniel P. (Elaine) Bowlds of Hawesville, Bonnie M. (Gary) Roberts of Nashville, TN, Oran D. (Nancy) Bowlds of Hawesville, Harvey F. (Cathy) Bowlds of Owensboro, Barry K. (Rose) Bowlds of Hawesville; 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Ernestine Shireman of Arlington, TX, and Mae Sweat of Murfreesboro, TN.

Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, with prayers at 5:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation Thursday will be after 9:00 AM at the funeral home.
