Carrie Mae Wieder, 77, of Owensboro, passed away August 8, 2026. She was born in Daviess County on April 12, 1949, to the late James Thomas Sr. and Mary Frances Medley Wieder. A 1967 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Carrie went on to Brescia College and earned a bachelor’s degree. She spent her professional career in banking, working for Cardinal Federal which later became U.S Bank and after thirty-eight years, retired as a corresponding lending processor. Carrie was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and was very involved with various ministries within the church. She served as a lector and would attend daily Mass. Carrie also enjoyed reading, volunteering within the community, and loved music. She also had a special place in her heart for her dogs she loved through her years.
Carrie was also preceded in death by her brother, James Wieder Jr., and stepmother, Virginia "Ginny" Wieder.
She is survived by her siblings, Florence Wieder, Anna (Steve) Carrico, Theresa (Terry) Potts, Walter (Marlaine) Wieder, Alton (Connie) Wieder, and Henry Wieder; stepsiblings, Anna (Eric) Davis and Jeb (Cathie) Medley, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The Funeral Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral, where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph or Brescia University.
