Carol Ann Wilkerson, 87, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at her birthplace with her family by her side. The Knottsville native was born on Aull Road on April 6, 1938, to the late Thomas Aaron Aull and Myrtle Vaughn Gilmore Aull. Carol graduated from St. Williams High School in Knottsville with the class of 1956. She was employed with American Tobacco for twenty-two years before working at W.R. Grace then Daramic for twenty years. Carol was a gifted singer and performed with several bands at the Trail-A-Way square dance barn, the Hillside Hoedown, and the Junior Grand Ole’ Opry. She was a devoted Catholic who loved going to church picnics. Carol never missed a UK basketball game or a country music awards show. She enjoyed going to concerts, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to her parents, Carol also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Glenn Wilkerson; two daughters, Mary Faye Wilkinson and Theresa Gayle Wilkerson; granddaughter, Tabatha Dawn Wilkerson; great grandson, William Wilkerson; brother, Randall Aull and one infant brother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her six sons, Terry Wilkerson (Patty), Ray Wilkerson (Debbie), Tony Wilkerson, James Russell Wilkerson, Tim Wilkerson (Donna-also her private nurse), and Steve Wilkerson; Grandchildren, David, Chris, Tabitha (Heath), Wendy (Mac), Eric (Mariah), Dale, Ryan, Isaac, Brooklyn, Kevin, Devin, Hunter, Jason, Ravin (Blake), Raysha (Larry), Madeline, Crystal (Matt), Lisa, Kendra, Luke (Meredith), Michelle (Ryan), Bryanna, and Emily Dawn; Great Grandchildren, Zachary, Landon, Elijah, Caylee, Ashland, Kennedy, Kadence, Waylon, Emerson, Raya, Delaney, Myles, Trey, Evelyn Kay, Ashton, Aidan, Hunter, LillyAnn, Brantley, Mary Claire; Great-Great Grandchildren, Zion, Ryder, Myla Mae, Cohen Roe; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral Mass will be noon Tuesday, June 24 at St. Stephen Cathedral with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 until 7:00 pm with prayers at 6:30 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:30 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , St. Stephen Cathedral, or UK Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
