Carol Velde Meythaler, 80, of 1909 Griffith Place East, Owensboro, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Mrs. Meythaler was born in Pekin, Illinois and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Womens Guild, formerly the Hospital Guild and the Seeders and Weeders Garden Club. She was a devoted wife and mother and was active in charitable and civic organization all her life.
Her husband of 58 years, Virgil Meythaler, sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Teri Meythaler of Owensboro and Bruce and Pam Meythaler of Evansville, IN, a sister, Louise Clendenin of Monmouth, IL, and seven grandchildren, Christopher Meythaler, Chelsea Meythaler, Darby Meythaler, Nick Meythaler, Katherine Meythaler, Bradford Meythaler, and Haydyn Meythaler survive her. A son, Scott Meythaler, and a grandson, Rob Meythaler, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and from noon until 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Robert Austin Meythaler Scholarship Fund at either Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 East Fourth Street, Owensboro, KY 42303 or Owensboro High School, 1800 Frederica Street, Owensbro, KY 42301, both of which are in honor of her late grandson.
