Carol Schmidt Ahnell

Carol Schmidt Ahnell, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
She was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Frank and Laura (Wyant) Schmidt.

Ms. Ahnell was a professional musician. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in music from the New England Conservatory and became a college flute instructor. Her career included Houghton College, Kentucky Wesleyan and Brescia University. In conjunction with this, she gave countless private lessons over the years. She also served as Principal Flutist for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Ahnell was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe. Ms. Ahnell was an avid bridge player and a member of Saturday Musicale, Younger Women's Club and American Association of University Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Suzanne Caroline Ahnell in 1984.

Ms. Ahnell is survived by a daughter, Kirsten Ahnell (husband, Dr. W.L. Magnuson); a grandson, Justin Ahnell Magnuson, all of Owensboro; and several cousins in Indiana.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 19 at Faith Lutheran Church. Pastor Liberty Lausterer will officiate. Burial services at Elmwood Cemetery will be private.

The family would like to recognize the following caregivers for their loving care through the years: Susan, Hilda, Robin, Diana, Pat, Geneva, Alice, the Staff at Wellington Parc and Hospice.
