Carmel Haynes Berry, 89, of the Carmel Home, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Ms. Berry had been a member of Immaculate Catholic Church for 51 years, volunteered at the H.E.L.P. Office, and enjoyed raising her family, knitting, playing cards and bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Richard Berry, Jr., parents, William Ellis and Iona Ann Roby Haynes, daughter, Mary Eva Wilkins, son, John Anthony Berry and a granddaughter, Shannon Berry.
Survivors include her sons, Dick Berry and his wife Janet of Owensboro, Mike Berry and his wife Patti of Dayton, OH, and David Berry and his wife Jeannie of Owensboro; her daughters, Annette Berry and Barbie Howard and her husband John all of Owensboro; a sister, Theresa Hassett of St. Augustine, FL; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 8 a.m. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home.
