Carlos Ray Stroud, Sr., 85 of Owensboro died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born July 2, 1920 in Centertown, KY, he was the son of the late Eugene and Belva Jackson Stroud. Mr. Stroud was a member of the Waltons Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Centertown and attended Third Baptist church in Owensboro where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class and the Senior Adults. He was a 60 year member of the Pipfitters Local 633. Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his first wife, Altha Ashby Stroud in 1972, and six siblings, Margaret Heishman, Byron Stroud, Lena Mae Lloyd, Eugene Stroud, Finis Stroud and Wilma Liles.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy Jean Rummage Stroud; three sons, Dr. Carlos Stroud, Jr. of Rochester, NY, Stephen Stroud of New York, NY, and Keith Stroud of Owensboro; two step-children, Pam Howard and Larry Lawrence both of Owensboro; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Adelle Moberly of Beaver Dam and Louise (and Dr. N.A.) Chetta of New Orleans.
Funeral services are 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Friday and after 9:30 on Saturday morning.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Waltons Creek Missionary Baptist Church or to a charity of the donors choice.
