Carlene Crite

Carlene Carlos Popa Crite Crite, Sr., 77, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 3:45 p.m. at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Livermore, KY on January 17, 1927, to the late William and Rosie Swain Crite. He worked for Glenmore Distillery and May Brothers Concrete. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was an army veteran of World War II; he loved fishing. Preceding him in death are his first wife, Mildred Johnson Crite, his second wife, LouNell Alexander Crite, and a daughter, Naomie Johnson.

He leaves behind two sons, Carlene C. Crite, Jr. and wife Tina of Atlanta, GA, and William Winstead of Owensboro; 5 daughters, Freida Lane of Goodlettsville, TN, Jeanetta & Leroy Davidson, Jeanette and Russell Lavenski, Clara L. Crite all of Owensboro, and Andera Crite of Colorado Springs. He has 18 grandchildren, Terrance McNavy, Carlena Woodard, Nigia Crite, Dyon Crite, Quinton Crite, Robert Crite, Clarence Lane III, Nicole Crite, Tiffany Johnson, Clarence Davidson Jr., Joseph Paul Davidson, LaRonna Winstead, Katie Davidson, William Crite, James Crite, Tonette Crite, Marchelle Crite, and Corey Johnson; 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Orbin Higgs, Rev. Dr. Waymon Simon, both of Owensboro, and Les Crite of CA; and two sisters, Vannie Willis and Mary Helen Higgs, both of Owensboro.

The family will accept visitors at the home of his daughter, Jeanette Lavenski, 1326 St. Ann St., Owensboro, KY, from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2004. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, with memorial contributions being made to the American Heart Association, 318 St. Elizabeth St., Owensboro, KY 42303.
