Carl Thomas Mattingly

Carl Thomas Mattingly, 82, of Masonville passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his home surrounded by the people he loved the most, his family. The Daviess County native was born April 9, 1941, to the late Thomas Leo Mattingly and Susanna Ignatius Payne. 

Carl was the owner of Mattingly Welding Service and part owner of M&M Well Service. He assembled his own oil rig, was certified in welding and HVAC. Carl enjoyed mowing the yard, working on cars and motorcycles, building wood models, NASCAR, and racing at 231 mini-stock speedway in Pleasant Ridge with his brother-in-law, George Wright. He loved telling stories and reminiscing to his family and friends about his travels and adventures. 

 In addition to his parents, Carl also was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary E. Mattingly in 2014; sister, Betty Lou Whitlow; three brothers, Joe Thomas, Richard Samuel, and Russell Henry “Sonny” Mattingly. 

 Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Debra Shelton (Joe) and Kim Greer (Jeff); four grandchildren, Justin Brumley (Megan), Alexis Tucker (Ty), Jacob Shelton (Kalyn), and Austin Cook; three great grandchildren, Luke, Miles, and Oliver with one on the way; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Wanda Aull, Barbara Payne, Bill Mattingly, and Charlie Mattingly; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.   

 The funeral will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. A private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
