Bruce Edward Hutchinson

May 19, 1954 — December 16, 2017

Bruce Edward Hutchinson, 63, of Owensboro passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Bruce was born May 19, 1954 in Owensboro to Richard J. and Gwen Russell Hutchinson. Bruce graduated from Daviess County High School in 1972, and then entered the United States Marine Corps where he served from 1973 from 1978. During his time in the Corps he served as a radar electronics technician at 29 Palms and as drill instructor at Parris Island. He retired from Aleris as Finishing Department Supervisor. He loved his job and the people he worked with, and they loved him as well. A pillar of Lewis Lane Baptist Church, Bruce was a Deacon, served on multiple committees, on the board of trustees, helped with construction projects, and went on two mission trips to Haiti. Bruce was very honest, and the kind of friend that you were always glad to see and catch up with. He and Peggy loved to travel in their motorhome and have seen many places together over the years. In his free time Bruce loved spending time with his dogs, watching his beloved Chicago Bears (win or lose), and watching Star Trek (not Star Wars), and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Hutchinson; father-in-law, Bill Powell; and canine companions Tasha and Sable.

Bruce is survived by his mother Gwen Russell Hutchinson; his wife and best friend of 43 years, Peggy Jo Stephens Hutchinson; son, Bruce E. Hutchinson Jr. and wife Danielle; daughter, LCDR Gwendolyn Mulholland and her husband Ryan of Aldie, VA; granddaughter, Brooklyn Mulholland; and grandsons, Chase and Parker Mulholland all of Aldie, VA; sister, Suzanne Miller of Owensboro; brother, Danny Hutchinson and his wife Debbie of Utica; many loving nieces and nephews; and traveling canine companion Pepper
