Bruce Edwin Elliott, 71, of Owensboro, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to many, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his home, after struggling with A.L.S., while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born June 3, 1952 in Owensboro to the late John and Mildred Hart Elliott and grew up in Philpot.
Bruce was a faithful believer of God and lived every day with that in mind. He was the best husband and father that his family was blessed with and leaves us in God’s hands. He loved sports (playing and watching), U.K. basketball, baseball, and golf. Bruce had coached Owensboro Catholic Middle School Girl’s basketball and Southern Little League baseball. He had worked at Commonwealth Aluminum and Aleris for 33 years as a Supply Chain Systems Analyst. He loved his work family, golf groups, YMCA workout group, and many other friends he considered family. Bruce was a graduate of Daviess County High School and Western Kentucky University and had served in the Army National Guard.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Theresa Powers Elliott; his son Kyle and wife Alisha and grandchild Sutton; his daughter, Natalie and husband Brad Vance and granddaughter Nora, both children living in Louisville; and his loving sister Nancy Cook of Philpot.
The funeral Mass for Bruce will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, May 8, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Mike Clark and Father John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 7 PM with prayers at 6:30 PM Tuesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Wednesday, all at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Immaculate Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 2516 Christie Place, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to Blessed Mother Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 601 E. 23rd.
