Bro. George Monroe Craig, 60, of Owensboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1952 in Daviess Co., to the late George W. and Ella Marie Bray Craig. George had worked for Owensboro Grain Co. and Owensboro River Sand and Gravel and had been a Baptist minister since 1992. He loved serving the Lord and had served in several churches in the area: Friendship Baptist Church at Cabot and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pattieville, both in Ohio Co., Greenbriar Baptist Church in Utica, and West Point Baptist Church near Pellville. He was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows and loved spending time with his grandchildren. George was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Dwayne Craig in 1972 and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Connie Wigginton Craig, two sons, Thomas Craig and wife Jennifer of Owensboro and Dr. Jeffrey Michael Craig and fianc Chelsea Reese of Oklahoma Cit, OK, a daughter, Donna Campbell and husband Joshua of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Noah Craig, and Whitney, Jacob, Zachary, and Abbigail Campbell, two brothers, Billy Craig of Henderson and Joe Craig of McLean Co., two sisters, Janie Sue McClellan and Mary Baize, both of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
