Brenda “Sue” Church Mahoney, 75, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, August 30, 2026. She was born on October 11, 1950, to the late Walter and Bozena Church in Owensboro. She was of the Catholic Faith and attended Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Sue married Bill Mahoney on April 22, 1967 and they raised 4 daughters together.
Sue, or as she was affectionately known as “Granny Sue” or “Gran”, enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. During her working years she babysat, worked at the hospital in the gift shop, billing department, and surgery scheduling. She also worked at Neurosurgical Consultants.
Sue loved Candy Crush, watching cooking videos, sitting on the porch watching the birds and having BBQ’s with family and friends. Her specialties in the kitchen were her deviled eggs and baked beans. Sue became quite talented at painting ceramics as well.
In addition to her mother, Sue was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Joseph “Bill” Mahoney, and a daughter, Deborah Ann Lindsey.
She is survived by her daughters, Tonya Pauling (Robb), Denise Willliams (Jeff), and Teri Davis (Jason); sister, Maria Courson; grandchildren, Will Pauling (Rachel), Beth Ferguson, Robbie Ferguson (Jessi), Aaron Ferguson (Michaela), Lauren Cox (Jon), Tyler Williams (Jen), Jacqueline Klee, Breanna Lindsey, Andrew Van Meter, Davin Davis (Anastasia), and Levi Davis (Haven); along with 15 great-grandchildren with another on the way!
The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 3 at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, 609 E 4th St. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, with prayers at 6:00 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will also be visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass Thursday at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
