Brenda VanWinkle Jones, 70, of Maceo, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born January 10, 1947 in Daviess Co. to the late James O. "Rip" and Mary Lee Hoheimer VanWinkle. Brenda graduated from Owensboro High School in 1965 and attended Murray State College. After working at both Medley and Glenmore Distilleries, she went back to school and earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Indiana University and her Masters of Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville. She was a licensed clinical social worker and retired as the Executive Director of the OASIS Spouse Abuse Center.
Brenda loved listening to music, flowers, birdwatching, and handing out her excellent free advice. She touched many lives and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Jody Jones, son, Chris Turnham and wife Kelly of Owensboro, daughter, Emily Turnham of Owensboro, step-daughter, Jackie Thompson of Bardstown, grandchildren, Katherine Eversole and husband Jeremy; Ashley Turnham; Sarah, Mary, Sam, and Nick Powers; Austin Hacker; and Noah Thompson, great grandchildren, Harlan and Hadley Eversole and Braylen McLevain, Sister, Linda Kegley and husband James of Palm Harbor, Florida, Nephews, Adam Kegley and wife Whitney of Lexington, Aaron Kegley and wife Catherine of S. Berwick, Maine, and their children Charlotte, Jak, and Caroline, niece, Allison Kilham and husband James of Shrewsbury, Mass., and their children Logan and Lauren.
Per Brenda's wishes, there will be no services and a Celebration of Life in her memory will be held at a later date.
