Bonnie Sue McElroy

Bonnie Sue McElroy, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on February 2, 1943 in Daviess Co., Ky to the late George Lee and Margaret Long Payne. Bonnie was employed by the State of Kentucky for 27 years and had retired from the Probation and Parole Department. She was a 50 year member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved riding on the Amtrak, U.K. basketball, and going to DisneyWorld with her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lee Payne in 1983.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Reginald "Ray" McElroy, a son, Clifford Ray McElroy and wife Veronica Golden of Seattle ,WA, two daughters, Cindy Sue Wilkerson and boyfriend Mike Heep of Owensboro and Krista Faye Hoagland Niehaus and husband Jason of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Logan and Savannah Wilkerson, Carter and Lillian Hoagland, Madeline McElroy, and a step grandson, Kirk Niehaus. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and her best friend Faye Calhoun.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 24, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
