Bonnie Jean Burns, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on September 24, 2011 at Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born in Daviess County to the late Robert Burns and Dorothy Burns Moore.
Bonnie graduated from Daviess County High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She then earned a master's degree at Murray and graduated at the top of her class. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Bonnie taught school locally at Daviess County High School for a short time. However, most of her teaching was done in Illinois. This included Lincoln Trail College and Wabash Valley Community College where she had served as dean. She had a passion for animals, especially cats and dogs. Bonnie was a very generous person and loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Betsy Wedding in 2007.
Bonnie is survived by a sister, Susie Shelton (S.D.) of Utica, KY; a niece, Beth Nash (Greg) of Owensboro, KY; nephews, Scott Wedding of Owensboro, Sam Shelton (Angie) of Livermore, KY, Rick Shelton (Rachel) and Mark Shelton, both of Owensboro and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.
