Bonnie Louise Brown

May 2, 1945 — July 14, 2016

Bonnie Louise Smith Brown of Centertown, KY passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. Bonnie was born May 2, 1945, near Chicago, IL to the late William and Louise Smith.

Bonnie was a faithful member of Centertown United Methodist Church. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and teacher. She served Ohio County for many, many years as a teacher and a United States Postal Service mail carrier.

Bonnie enjoyed her life on their farm with family and all the animals she cared for. She was an accomplished horsewoman who loved spending time in the barn caring for and spoiling her horses and miniature donkeys. She always had a pocket full of peppermints when she went to the barn and her pocket was always empty when she returned.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Phillip R. Brown; her son, John Phelps, Jr. (Lana); daughter, Jeannie Burbridge (James May); 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, all of whom she cherished. She is also survived by hundreds of children she taught how to read, write and be good to each other.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at Centertown United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ohio County, 107 Gillespie Street Hartford, Kentucky 42347.
