Bogart "Bo" Scott Reed, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, February 03, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Chestnut Mountain, GA to the late Joseph Scott and Louie Nell Reed, graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, AL; served his country as a First Lt. Sig Corp in the Army; and graduated from Auburn University with a BS in electrical engineering. Bo lived in North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and New Mexico before he and Elva made Owensboro their permanent home in 1973. He worked as a consulting engineer for General Electric before retiring as Vice General Manager in charge of transmission from Big Rivers Electric Corporation. Bo was a member of the Owensboro Isotopes R/C club and had been an avid builder and flyer of model airplanes from a young age. After retirement Bo and Ruth spent much of their time traveling the world. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elva Ellison Reed in 1997.
Survivors include his wife Ruth Steele Reed; sons, Michael S. Reed and his wife Kathy O'Hearn Reed of Louisville and Robert E. Reed of Hartford; grandchildren, Kathleen E. Reed of Louisville, Andrew J. Reed of Manitou Springs, Co; and Michaela A. Reed of Louisville; and sister, Mary Reed East of Conyers, GA.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
