Bobby R. Southard

Bobby R. Southard, 78, of Philpot passed away on Friday, November 15 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Prentiss, Kentucky to the late Gordon and Bessie Southard.

Mr. Southard was a graduate of Cromwell High School and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Bobby was a Production Supervisor at W.R. Grace, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and Men's Cook Team. Bobby was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Knights of Columbus and NRA. He was formerly an avid golfer who enjoyed hunting and gardening. He particularly took pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren in cross country, academic achievements and other extracurricular activities.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Peggy Southard in 2008 and a son, Jon Eric Southard in 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Mills Southard; a son, Rob Southard (Donna) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Sean and Daniel Southard; daughter, Susan Buck of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Alex and Sydney Buck; step-son, Wes Mills (Brandy); step-daughter, Stephanie Mills Gray, both of Philpot; step-grandchildren, Katelyn Rusher, Alex Gray, Jackson and Halley Mills; and a brother, Alvin Southard (Donnetta) of Logan, Utah.

The funeral mass will be at Noon on Tuesday, November 19 at St. Pius the Tenth Catholic Church. Fr. Edward Bradley will officiate. Private burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8 PM with prayers at 6:30 and on Tuesday after 10 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
