Bobby Joe Rickard, 84, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born July 17th, 1932 in Sacramento, KY to the late Webb and Eva Lee Rickard.
During the Korean War he served for over 3 years in the United States Air Force. After obtaining his teaching degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College 1957, he started his teaching career. From 1959 to 1965 Bob was the basketball coach at Bremen Kentucky. After leaving teaching Bob worked at Holland Dairy Foods from 1965 to 2000 fulltime, then part-time until he completely retired a few years later. During his career at Holland he had various roles, but his final position was as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He also served on the State of Kentucky Milk Commission for 8 years. Bob loved basketball and playing golf. He was a former member at Windridge and Owensboro Country Clubs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jack Rickard and a grandson, Blake A. Moore.
He is survived by his son, Mark K. Rickard and his wife Sharon Pagan Rickard of Owensboro; daughter, Dana J. Rickard of Sarasota, Florida; mother of his children, Marion "Jackie" Rickard of Owensboro; grandson, Eric T. Moore and his wife Crystin Gates Moore of Lexington; granddaughter, Lauren Rickard McGregor and her husband Davis McGregor of Independence KY; a niece, Kenwyn J. Rickard of Central City; an uncle, Morton Rickard of Sacramento, KY; and special friend, Ann Swift of Livermore, KY.
The funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday May 12 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM and Friday after 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
