Bobby P. Newton

Bobby P. Newton, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Daviess County to the late Arthur Newton, Sr. and Meta Miller Newton.

He retired in 1996 after 31 years of service with Owensboro Police Department where he attained the rank of Captain. Bobby was dedicated to his career and well respected among his fellow officers. He developed strong relationships as a friend and mentor to many. Prior to becoming a police officer, he was employed by Owensboro Daviess County Hospital where he worked in E. R. and Orthopedics.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Gold Wing Road Riders. Bobby was very athletic and very competitive. He enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, and spending time on his farm where he spent many hours riding four wheelers with his grandsons.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Newton.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Sue (Sutton) Newton; daughters, Bobbi Carol Newton Yeckering and Tammy Kaye Newton McKay (Brad), all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Ashley Yeckering of Owensboro, Amanda Yeckering of Highland Heights, KY, Hunter, Bailey and Hannah McKay, all of Owensboro; a brother, Arthur Newton, Jr. of Maceo and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Chaplain Paul Gatewood will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and on Wednesday after 10 AM at the funeral home.
