Bobby Y. Newton

Bobby Y. "Peewee" Newton, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Riverside Manor in Calhoun, Kentucky. He was born in Daviess County to the late Ernest Y. and Anna M. Newton.

After his retirement from Whitehall Furniture in 1994 Bobby very much enjoyed his part time work as a custodian at the mall. He was a friendly man and made many friends during his years there.

Bobby formerly attended Vineyard Baptist Church. He was an avid U.K. and St. Louis Cardinal Fan who also enjoyed, big cookouts, fishing, travelling and camping. He will be missed by many.

Bobby was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Catherine Marie Newton; his parents; a son, Terry Newton; a sister, Betty Fenwick; and a step-son, Ronnie Clark.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Drury of Owensboro; a son, Larry Newton (Lisa) of Florida; siblings, Shirley Powell of Newport News, VA and Kenneth Newton of Owensboro; grandchildren, Cassie Hughes, Carrie Newton, Courtney Kessler, Lauren Drury and Jason Newton; great grandchildren, Kali Newton-Reed, Evelyn and Parker Hughes and Gavin Newton; his wife of 28 years, Mary Sue Newton; step- children, Denise Myers (Ron) of Winslow, IN; Angela Bindert (Keith), Kay Wilkerson, David Clark (Sandy) and Chris Clark, all of Owensboro; and several step-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 3 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday after 10 AM at the funeral home.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to all the doctors and their staffs as well as the nursing home and their loving staff for the dedicated care given to Bobby in recent years.
