Robert Franklin Hayes, 58, of 2925 Eastern Parkway, Owensboro passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 at his home. He was born on April 28, 1951 in Detroit, MI to the late Harvey John and Mary Helen Gaw Hayes. He was a Unit Operator for Tennessee Valley Authority (T.V.A.) and a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Christian and had attended Hall St. Baptist Church. He enjoyed raising a garden, working in the yard, boating, fishing, and traveling. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Hayes.
Surviving are his wife of nine years, Shannon Lancaster-Hayes, son, Nicholas Hayes of Owensboro, daughter, Andrea Hayes of Louisville, three stepsons, Aaron Troutman of Chicago, Joshua Hayden and Seth Lancaster, both of Owensboro, a stepdaughter, Michelle Gorman and husband Jason of Evansville, four grandchildren, three brothers, Jack Hayes, Paul Hayes and wife Betty, and Joey Hayes and wife Diane, and a sister, Victoria VanSickle and husband Keith, all of Detroit.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29 at the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A gathering will be held immediately following the memorial service at Bobby Frank's and Shannon's home for all the family and friends.
