Bobby Johnson passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was born September 12, 1933, in Muhlenberg County, KY, to the late Kermit Johnson and Mae Wells Taylor.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served abroad in Germany for two years. He is a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked for United States Steel in Gary, Indiana for almost two decades before moving to Owensboro to begin a career in food service and production, where he worked for Landshire Foods for almost five decades. He took great pride in his work and cared deeply for his colleagues and customers.
A special thanks to the staff at Fern Terra and Hospice. The care and concern they provided went above and beyond to ensure his comfort, dignity, and end-of-life journey.
He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Delvania Johnson, and his sisters, Patsy Cornette (Jerry), Susan Johnson, and a brother, Doris Johnson.
Other survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Johnson (Donna), Thomas Johnson, David Johnson (Danna); his grandchildren, Thomas Wesley Johnson, Michael Johnson, Rebekah (Connor) Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Tanner Johnson, and Tyler Johnson.
The funeral service for Bobby Johnson will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, August 24, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
