Bobby G. Emerson

Bobby G. Emerson, 79, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System following a brief illness. Bobby was born in Dyersburg, TN, a son of the late George and Geraldine Emerson. A man of many abilities, he was a truck driver, having worked for George Parr Trucking, Usher Transportation, and Matlack, from which he retired. He had been the manager of the former Wyndall's Grocery on Highway 60, and a brick layer. His interests included horses and riding, country music, having been steel guitar player, and CB radio, where he was known as Snoopy. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Terry Lynn Emerson and infant daughter, and in 2003 his first wife Margaret Hinsey Emerson.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Gloria Dean Price Emerson; his sons, Mike Emerson (Carol) of Owensboro and Bobby Emerson, Jr. (Darla) of Lewisport, his grandchildren, Sabrina Emerson, and Matthew Woosnam of Owensboro and Staci Collier of Ft. Worth; his great-grandchildren, Kane Emerson of Owensboro and Taylor Collier of Ft. Worth and D. J. and Saeda Branham of Lewisport; and his sisters, Nancy Emerson Ramey, Teresa Emerson Allen, and Dianne Emerson Mullins, all of McKenzie, Tennessee.

The service for Mr. Emerson will be 12:00 noon Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Network.
