Bennie "Don" McDonald Bradley, 80, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at his home. Don was born September 8, 1932 in High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina to the late Bennie J. and Annie Louise (Sledge) Bradley. He married Barbara Jean Hargrove on December 4, 1954, in Hopkinsville, KY. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2003. Don was a U.S. Army Paratrooper from Oct. 1952 to Oct. 1955. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army with the rank of Sgt. Jumpmaster and Parachute Rigger. He was employed for eleven years as a route salesman and route supervisor for George L. Atkins Dairy in Hopkinsville and eleven years as a National Life and Accident Insurance agent, staff manager and supervisor in Shelbyville, TN, Hopkinsville, and Owensboro, KY. Don left National Life in 1980 and started Bradley and Bradley Insurance Agency with his son in Owensboro. He was a member of Life Underwriters, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was a Christian ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a past member of Gideons International for 20 years. Surviving is his son, Don Cary Bradley and wife, Wanda, and two grandchildren, Carrie E. (Matthew) Henry and Emily F. Bradley, all of Owensboro. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Stone officiating and burial following in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 5664 Highway 56, Owensboro, KY 42301.
